Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Manages communications strategies and tactics, including one or more of the following – public relations, internal communications, collateral development, graphic design, event management, sponsorships, etc, ensuring timely execution and consistency.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with various system departments leaders and stakeholders to accomplish goals.
  • Provides guidance to various departments on internal messaging best practices.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of communications and public relations activities by documenting results and recommending changes for improvement, when appropriate.
  • Responds promptly and courteously to internal requests and external calls or solicitations.
  • Monitors expenditures to ensure adherence to budget and proactively seeks cost cutting measures.
  • Assists in the planning of comprehensive communications and public relations strategies for assigned system services, facilities, or system programs.
  • Manages multiple internal services, facilities, or programs with limited supervision.
  • Trains and develops less experienced staff, as needed.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermanns service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, business, health care, or related field preferred.
  • Three (3) years professional experience in marketing and/or public relations
  • Experience in internal communications within healthcare or a hospital system a plus
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer and Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong project management skills with ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Experience working with leadership and managing confidential or sensitive communications
  • Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Preferred

  • Internal communications experience in healthcare or hospital systems
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with leadership and manage confidential communications
  • Healthcare industry experience
