Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Reads client books and reviews existing assets to better understand the clients and their work in service of creating more effective media lists and pitches.
  • Conducts media outreach and follow-up.
  • Submits client books for Kirkus reviews.
  • Ghostwrites articles for clients and/or reviews client by-lined articles for content purposes to ensure alignment of messaging and positioning.
  • Conducts media training for clients and prepares clients ahead of media interviews including developing media briefs.
  • Monitors the news for opportunities to “newsjack” stories for clients.
  • Responds quickly to Qwoted/Profnet (media) queries on behalf of clients.
  • Works with media database tools, podcast pitching tools, and wire services and processes and makes recommendations for new tools as appropriate.
  • Partners with team members and manages required resources to ensure work progresses in a timely manner and with high-quality results.
  • Effectively manages multiple clients simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, English, or the equivalent, relevant work experience.
  • One to two years of professional experience in public relations in a business setting.
  • Must have experience using various media databases, such as Muckrack, ProfNet, ListenNotes, and Podmatch.
  • Must be proficient in using Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred

  • Hubspot and Basecamp preferred.
