Job Description

Responsibilities

  • - Develop, write, and edit engaging and informative content for a variety of marketing and communication channels, including newsletters, agency-wide text communications, and video scripts.
  • - Collaborate with internal stakeholders across various agency divisions to gather information, understand communication needs, and ensure content accuracy and alignment with agency goals and messaging.
  • - Translate complex information and technical details into clear, concise, and accessible language suitable for diverse public audiences.
  • - Manage the content calendar for assigned marketing initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of all written materials.
  • - Conduct research to inform content development, staying abreast of industry trends, best practices in public communication, and relevant government initiatives.
  • - Proofread and edit all written materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and adherence to agency branding guidelines.
  • - Assist in the development and execution of content strategies to support agency programs, events, and public awareness campaigns.
  • - Contribute to the creation of compelling narratives that effectively communicate the agency's mission, services, and impact.
  • - Maintain a strong understanding of the agency's target audiences and tailor content to meet their specific interests and needs.
  • - Participate in change in organizational transformations, ensuring successful adoption and alignment with strategic objectives

Requirements

  • - Six (6) years of experience* in public relations, social media, and digital communications.
  • - Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two (2), four (4), or five (5) years of experience.

Preferred

  • - Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • - Proven experience in content creation, copywriting, and editing for digital and traditional marketing channels.
  • - Experience in developing content for video scripts and other multimedia formats.
  • - Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • - Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • - Familiarity with the mission and services of the NYS Department of Labor a plus.
