Drive Northwestern Medicine media relations to promote new programs and provide medical information through press outreach and media relationships.

Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Promote new programs, service enhancements, and clinical experts to the news media through outreach activities including press releases, tailored pitches, social media, and b-roll packages.
  • Build positive relationships with news media by researching new contacts and maintaining consistent, positive interaction with current contacts.
  • Use social media to promote coverage and communicate with media.
  • Serve as a local media contact for interview requests, medical information, and patient condition reports.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Media Relations during crises as part of the media relations team.
  • Distribute E-News and provide other admin/professional support as required.
  • Serve as on-call media contact on a rotating basis.
  • Ensure produced materials adhere to department quality standards, HIPAA privacy laws, and IRB standards when applicable.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of media relations or related healthcare experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of how the media works with a proven track record of generating press with major outlets.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and execute projects with minimal supervision.
