Job Summary

Own external storytelling for architecture and design in order to shape which outlets see your work and how leaders are positioned, with a strong bias toward narrative-driven coverage and journalist relationships.

  • Own media relations strategy, storytelling, and narrative development across architecture, design, and real estate outlets.
  • Build and sustain relationships with journalists and influencers and proactively pitch high-value coverage.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Execute strategic media relations plans aligned with firm goals and priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers in architecture, design, business, and industry trade publications.
  • Proactively pitch stories, press releases, and bylined articles to secure high-value coverage.
  • Partner with leadership, marketing, and design teams to identify and elevate project stories, research and firm milestones.
  • Monitor media coverage, industry trends, and competitor activity; provide insights and recommendations.
  • Develop press materials including press releases, media lists, fact sheets, and briefing books and messaging guides.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of experience in media relations, PR, or corporate communications, with at least 2 years within the architecture, design, or real estate industries.
  • Strong portfolio of media placements with top-tier, regional/local, and trade outlets.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills and knowledge of AP Style.
  • Established relationships with key media covering architecture, design, and related fields.
  • Ability to translate complex design concepts into accessible, compelling narratives.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Comfortable working with senior leaders and managing sensitive communications.
  • Bachelor in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • This position is designated as full-time on-site and requires the employee to be physically present at the assigned office location Monday through Friday during standard business hours. Regular, reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of this role.
