Job Summary

Own the visual storytelling and content flow for a local ice cream shop, turning on-site shoots into photo/video narratives and captions that drive weekly newsletter engagement and in-store storytelling.

Content Production: Shoot photos and Reels on-site and craft captions that match the shop’s aesthetic.
Storytelling Cadence: Lead weekly newsletter content and align imagery, words, and tone to the brand story.
Shop Collaboration: Bring an ideas-driven approach to the shop, shaping visuals and messaging with local flavor.

Job Description

Responsibilities

shoot content (photos, Instagram Reels, short video)
write captions
send our weekly customer newsletter
come to the shop, bring your own ideas on aesthetic and approach
help us tell that story in photos, video, and words

Requirements

Experience running social media or a newsletter for yourself or another business (portfolio required)
Comfortable shooting Instagram Reels and photos on-site
Strong writer who edits carefully before hitting send
Able to come to the shop in Saugerties
A point of view on social media
Hudson Valley local required
Starting as soon as possible
May through October, with potential for year-round work depending on how things go

Preferred

Familiarity with Square Marketing or similar email platforms
Background in food, hospitality, or local small business

Alleyway Ice Cream

Alleyway is located in Saugerties, NY in a former supply closet at the end of an alley. The shop started as Julian's dream many years ago. A lifelong ice cream lover, Julian noticed everyone's joy when they ate ice cream. He thought how wonderful it would be if he could help create that joy too. Some years ago, he started experimenting here and there trying to recreate traditional flavors. Experimenting turned into obsession and into Alleyway Ice Cream. Some of Alleyway’s most unusual ice cream flavors are sweet corn, blueberry goat cheese, Sichuan peppers and dandelion.
