Job Summary

Drive Buffalo-focused storytelling and cross-campus coordination to localize branding, strengthen community ties, and accelerate recruitment outcomes by weaving content across stories, digital campaigns, and partner relationships.

  • Own local narrative across Buffalo with Rochester collaborators, aligning messaging to local audiences and recruitment cycles.
  • Coordinate paid/earned/owned campaigns with PR and digital teams, monitor performance, and report insights for optimization.
  • Connect Buffalo and Rochester strategies to maintain brand consistency and cross-site alignment.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Buffalo-wide communications: craft stories about renovation progress, partnerships, and community engagement.
  • Writing and editorial support for content and social media, aligned with brand voice and strategy.
  • Collaborate with Rochester-based senior writer to adapt messaging for local audiences.
  • Local campaigns with PR and media partners for Buffalo that are paid, earned, and owned.
  • Plan and support website development, social media, and advertising campaigns with the digital team.
  • Monitor performance data to optimize content for engagement and lead generation
  • Use analytics to evaluate campaign performance, community sentiment, and enrollment impact, with regular insights to the integrated marketing team.
  • Identify and amplify local content opportunities aligned with the institute’s recruitment cycle.
  • Ensure brand consistency of Golisano Institute’s Buffalo presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, marketing, or related field
  • 5–7 years in communications, marketing, or media relations, ideally in higher education, nonprofit, or community-based organizations
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong portfolio
  • Experience managing relationships with media and PR agencies
  • Strong understanding of digital and social media storytelling
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently while aligning with team strategy
  • Familiarity with AP style and foundational SEO principles
  • Deep knowledge of the Buffalo area with established local relationships preferred
  • Ability to travel to Rochester regularly, especially in the first year

  • Experience collaborating across campuses or multi-site marketing programs
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong leadership and ability to communicate with internal and external audiences
