Job Summary

Own and execute the organization\'s communications strategy across website, email, social, and media while leading a small team and serving as a spokesperson to advance fundraising and community engagement.

  • Represent HSCO in media, interviews, and community events while growing donor and volunteer engagement.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop communications plans supporting fundraising, events, adoptions, and community engagement.
  • Lead content across email, website, social, print, and media - elevating impact stories that honor the dignity of animals, clients, donors, and volunteers.
  • Own website, email, and social strategy; use analytics to strengthen engagement and fundraising.
  • Help scope, hire, and supervise a Digital Media Specialist.
  • Serve as one of HSCO's spokespeople: give interviews, represent us at community events, manage media relationships, and draft releases and crisis communications.

Requirements

  • Four to six years in communications, marketing, PR, or journalism; preference for nonprofit work in these areas
  • Strong writing, editing, and project management across channels
  • Confident public speaking - comfortable with interviews and presentations
  • Proficiency with email platforms, CMS, social media, analytics, and design tools
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience; valid driver's license

Preferred

  • nonprofit, fundraising, or animal welfare experience; photography or video skills; WordPress, donor CRMs, GA4, or A/B testing.
