Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Manage communication workflows, timelines and deliverables for campaigns, initiatives, events and projects within key functional areas, including Membership and Advancement
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support integrated communications aligned with departmental and organizational goals
  • Serve as a communications liaison for designated departments by attending planning meetings, coordinating deliverables and supporting upcoming efforts
  • Serve as primary editor for designated communications projects, ensuring content accuracy, consistency and timely approvals
  • Co-lead day-to-day management of the Aquarium’s social media channels, including content planning, copywriting, scheduling, publishing, community engagement, platform maintenance and optimization
  • Develop and execute platform-specific social media content that supports audience engagement, brand awareness, revenue generation and organizational priorities
  • Monitor social media performance, audience behavior, platform developments and emerging trends to identify opportunities for growth and improve engagement and effectiveness
  • Maintain an active understanding of evolving social media best practices, platform features and content trends, applying relevant opportunities to keep the Aquarium’s social presence timely, engaging and audience-focused
  • Support real-time social media coverage and content capture for Aquarium programs, events, animal stories and other organizational priorities as needed
  • Research, write, produce and distribute content that supports the Aquarium’s mission, programs, exhibits and revenue generation across multiple communication channels

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Experience working in a nonprofit a plus, but not required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred

  • Familiarity with analytics, content management and project management tools preferred
  • Basic photography and videography content skills preferred
  • Knowledge of or interest in conservation, environmental issues or related fields preferred
