Job Summary

Own and orchestrate storytelling and communications across KIPP Capital Region, driving cohesive narratives, crisis-ready messaging, donor outreach, and cross-team coordination to amplify impact for students, families, staff, and the broader community.

  • Lead content production and editorial coordination across long- and short-form formats, newsletters, press materials, and digital campaigns to boost engagement and visibility.
  • Coordinate with schools and regional teams to ensure timely, consistent messaging and proactive storytelling aligned to strategic priorities.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Write and support development of high-quality long-form and short-form content that communicates stories from the KIPP community to inspire students, families, staff, donors, and the broader public.
  • Develop and publish ongoing internal and external stories that highlight the achievements, culture, and impact of KIPP Capital Region schools and communities.
  • Support the creation and execution of annual communications plans and monthly content calendars aligned to organizational priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Gather in-person content for digital storytelling, including interviews, quotes, photos, and videos featuring students, families, teachers, and staff.
  • Draft and distribute communication materials, including newsletters, press releases, blogs, talking points, feature stories, op-eds, and website content.
  • Serve as a central point of coordination for internal and external communications across schools and regional teams.
  • Assist in developing proactive messaging strategies that anticipate stakeholder needs and strengthen community trust and engagement.
  • Support and emergency and crisis communication efforts by helping ensure messaging is timely, clear, and aligned with organizational protocols.
  • Support and execute donor engagement through communications such as frequent touch points, thank you letters and development tool kits and campaigns.
  • Support development and execution of strategic marketing campaigns that advance student recruitment, staff recruitment, fundraising, and community engagement goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in marketing and communication leadership, public relations, corporate communications, and educational marketing
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns.
  • Experience with Canva and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
  • Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.

Preferred

  • Preferred experience working directly with students, preferably required in the charter, private, or public school environment
  • Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred but not required.
