Job Summary

Publish and shape EmPower content across social, events, and email, while building a nonprofit communications portfolio with a focus on community impact and credible, branded storytelling.

  • Social content cadence and platform publishing to support programs and community engagement.
  • Event content production including promos, post-event recaps, and multimedia assets.
  • Monthly newsletters and brand-aligned communications that educate and mobilize audiences.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Create and publish a minimum of two social media posts per week across EmPower's communication platforms.
  • Develop original content that promotes EmPower's mission, programs, educational resources, and community engagement.
  • Create promotional content for upcoming events and deliver polished written recaps following completed events.
  • Design and prepare a monthly email newsletter for distribution to subscribers.
  • Edit photos and video footage from completed events into engaging digital content for social media, newsletters, and other organizational communications.
  • Research and cite credible sources when creating educational or informational content.
  • Produce all content in alignment with EmPower's established brand standards, organizational voice, and communication guidelines, utilizing organizational templates and approved marketing materials as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Graphic design experience is required , including proficiency with Canva or a comparable graphic design platform.
  • Experience creating engaging content for social media.
  • Basic photo and video editing skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage work independently.
  • Reliable internet access and access to a personal computer.
  • Interest in community engagement, nonprofit work, or family wellness is preferred.

  • Ideal for a communications, marketing, journalism, or graphic design student or recent graduate looking to build a nonprofit portfolio while contributing to meaningful community work.
