Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Athletics Communications Manager oversees the execution of communications efforts that promote Brown's 38 varsity athletics programs and recreation initiatives while ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent messaging across digital and traditional media platforms.
  • Working closely with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, and campus partners, the Athletics Communications Manager supports storytelling, media relations, website and social media management, and departmental communications that enhance the visibility and reputation of Brown Athletics & Recreation.
  • Duties include managing day-to-day operations of Athletics Communications.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of athletics communications, including media relations, statistical reporting, game operations, and event communications.
  • Utilizes industry-standard communications tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems, photography, video, and graphic design resources to support storytelling and brand engagement.
  • Uses social media analytics, website metrics, and other digital performance data to evaluate communications effectiveness and inform future content strategies.
  • All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the compliance office and appropriate parties.
  • Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree is required
  • 3-5 Experience in athletics communications, sports information, media relations, public relations, or a related communications field.
