Job Summary

Own end-to-end post-production for Plural's internal media properties and client projects, guiding rough assemblies, cutdowns, and platform-native edits while coordinating in-studio workflows and asset archiving.

  • Lead post-production from ingest to delivery on internal and client projects
  • Ensure platform-native cuts and efficient review cycles through tight collaboration

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Internal Video Ownership: Lead assembly and final cuts for Plural's internal media properties, including Plural Perspectives episodes, internal case studies, studio sizzle reels, and BTS content
  • Commercial Pacing & Craft: Cut engaging short-form and digital video assets with a sharp eye for commercial visual rhythm, platform-native pacing, trending audio, and brand identity
  • Rough Assemblies & Selects: Support editors and producers by ingesting raw footage, organizing project bins, creating selects, and cutting initial rough assemblies for commercial client projects
  • Commercial Storytelling: Apply an understanding of commercial storytelling - focusing on hook timing, concise messaging, visual rhythm, and graphic integration - rather than traditional long-form narrative structures
  • Cutdowns & Reformatting: Adapt master edits into platform-native cutdowns for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, ensuring correct aspect ratios and compression specs
  • Travel Coverage & Studio Continuity: Act as a reliable post-production contact in the studio to field edit requests, deliver revisions, and manage pipeline assets when the team is traveling for physical shoots
  • Project Setup & Technical Standards: Meticulously build out Premiere Pro project files according to Plural's post-production guidelines (the PLOG), including folder optimization, file naming, and proxy creation
  • Archiving & Delivery: Export, spot-check, and back up final project files and master assets across local archive drives and cloud servers

Requirements

  • Academic & Experience Level: Current College Senior pursuing a degree in Film/Video Production, Post-Production, Digital Media, or a related field, with 1-2 years of practical experience gained through internships, freelancing, or student production groups
  • Editing Focus: Demonstrated focus in video editing, with a clear understanding of the differences in pacing, structure, and intent between commercial brand work and narrative storytelling
  • Software Proficiency: Intermediate expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro and Media Encoder. Working familiarity with After Effects, Photoshop, and DaVinci Resolve is a plus
  • Technical Foundations: Strong grasp of post-production technical fundamentals - video codecs, aspect ratios, frame rates, audio leveling, color correction, and proxy workflows
  • Adaptability & Pace: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative studio environment with quick turnaround times and constructive feedback loops
  • Location & Availability: NYC-based and available for a minimum of 2 full days per week in-studio (Mondays and Tuesdays, with potential for Thursdays; 8 hours/day) at our Lower East Side studio (195 Chrystie St) from September 2026 through the end of January 2027

Preferred

  • Love video pacing, sound design, and modern social video trends
  • Possess a proactive problem-solving mindset and take pride in organized folder structures
  • Can jump in independently to assemble a cut or organize footage when lead editors are away on set
  • Are eager to build a professional post-production portfolio in a collaborative, agency studio environment

Benefits

  • Timeline: September 2026 - End of January 2027 (:5 Months)
  • Schedule: Temporary Contract (Minimum 16-24 hours per week); Minimum 2 full days in-studio (Mondays and Tuesdays required, Thursdays optional)
  • Reports To: Team Lead, Production & Editor
  • Location: 195 Chrystie St (Studio 901-D), Lower East Side, NYC
  • Compensation: Paid Hourly ($23 / hour)
  • Occasional weekday or weekend work on a project-by-project basis
