Job Summary

Own the frontline media outreach for nonprofits by watching beats, spotting timely angles, and coordinating on-the-ground opportunities that move coverage and credibility.

  • News monitoring and beat research: track client and industry stories to feed timely pitches and newsjacking opportunities.
  • Pitching and drafting: craft pitches, releases, statements, op-eds, and blogs to secure interviews and placements.
  • Interviews and client engagement: staff reporter interviews, coordinate meetings, and build strong client relationships for ongoing coverage.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Research various media outlets, reporters’ beats and bylines; be the eyes and ears on the ground for “newsjacking” opportunities
  • Monitor client news and relevant industry news daily
  • Draft timely media pitches, press releases, press statements, emails, op-eds, blogs and other client-facing communications
  • Pitch, coordinate and staff interviews with reporters
  • Participate in client meetings each week by taking notes and playing an administrative role, including developing agendas, sharing client deliverables and more
  • Develop a rapport with the client and members of their internal team

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of relevant PR experience; this can be inclusive of internships
  • A genuine passion for public service and a commitment to working with nonprofits and mission-based initiatives
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Interest in growing as a PR professional
