Drive a year-long social media assistant role for Texas Performing Arts, executing content creation, posting, reporting, and community engagement.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating, scheduling, and posting content across TPA’s social media channels.
  • Draft captions, gather assets, and help maintain a consistent voice and look across platforms.
  • Capture content at select performances and events, including photos, short videos, and behind‑the‑scenes moments.
  • Monitor comments and messages and help maintain a positive, responsive online presence.
  • Support digital advertising campaigns by preparing assets and tracking basic performance metrics.
  • Compile social media into simple reports and share insights with the team.
  • Collaborate with the design team to request graphics and assets needed for campaigns.
  • Bring fresh ideas to the table for social content and digital moments that spark excitement, deepen audience engagement, and showcase the unique personality of TPA.
  • Participate in weekly marketing meetings and contribute ideas for content, campaigns, and audience engagement.
  • Stay up to date on social media trends, best practices, and emerging features.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years work experience in arts administration, performing arts production, non-profit management, community engagement, or education. Student roles can count toward this requirement.
  • Some experience managing social media for an organization, club, project, internship, or personal creative platform.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
  • Basic photography and short‑form video skills (smartphone acceptable).
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for performances, content capture, or events.
  • Demonstrated intent to pursue a career in professional arts administration or production.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude, flexibility with working assignments and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Demonstrated competencies in: - Teamwork - Effective communication (written and spoken) - Accuracy and attention to detail - Initiative - Decision making and critical thinking - Problem solving

Preferred

  • Prior work experience working in a performing arts organization.
  • Familiarity with editing tools such as Canva, iMovie, or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with Texas Performing Arts and UT Austin venues and programs
