Job Summary

Own community-facing marketing, events, and customer experience for the CHASE division, aligning public messaging, history programming, and special events with department goals.

  • Communications & Customer Experience: Manage public messaging, inquiries, and stakeholder engagement across schools, groups, vendors, and county staff.
  • Programs & Events: Lead history programming and special events, coordinating cross-department efforts and measuring event outcomes.
  • People & Operations: Supervise staff, set goals, manage budgets, and enforce policies and procedures.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Represents the department to the general public, school representatives, community groups, county staff, vendors, contractors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, policies, and standards affecting operations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the development and administration of budgets for assigned facilities, services, and programs.
  • Responds to and resolves inquiries and complaints related to the division’s programs, activities, events, operations, projects, and plans.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates the work of the division’s professional staff.
  • Performs other work as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, history, marketing, or a related field; seven years of experience in marketing, special events, community engagement, and annual marketing campaigns; and three years of direct supervision and management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview.
  • Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
