Job Summary

Drive integrated marketing, PR, and brand initiatives for SMU Meadows Museum by owning strategy, campaigns, social channels, and budget, with cross‑department collaboration as the core mission.

  • Lead community outreach and partnerships to attract visitors, members, and donors.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual marketing and communications plan and budget with strategic audience and revenue goals, and report progress against goals, expense forecasts, and campaign success.
  • Lead the creative direction, development, and production of all marketing campaigns and collateral with deadlines met.
  • Create excitement about the Meadows Museum through messaging, campaigns, and engaging social media storytelling.
  • Develop an annual PR and media campaign, oversee the PR strategy and team, and align with the Museum’s goals.
  • Establish relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets; oversee local and international PR associates and press activities.
  • Own the website and social channels, safeguard the Meadows brand, and ensure positive, consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to develop campaigns that attract visitors, members, and donors.
  • Coordinate with an outside freelance designer for signage, paid media, and collateral; manage external contracts.
  • Integrate marketing and PR functions across channels and partner with Membership on direct mail, eblasts, and member outreach.
  • Lead community outreach and partnerships with cultural institutions, civic entities, and corporate partners to amplify the museum’s role.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of work experience in social media, digital and print communications, advertising, or marketing is required.
  • Previous experience supporting marketing initiatives in the arts is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate across the University and maintain relationships with diverse constituencies.
  • Strong written communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyze problems, and devise solutions.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills with project management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse audiences and generate excitement about the museum’s activities.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when presenting information to Board members, donors, media, and university leadership.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, public relations, or business is preferred.
  • Spanish language ability is highly preferred.
