Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Director of Communications will lead the development and execution of an integrated communications and marketing strategy that advances the mission of Beyond Celiac, strengthens brand awareness, and deepens engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement an integrated communications and marketing strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Strengthen Beyond Celiac’s brand position as a leading voice in celiac disease awareness, research, and advocacy.
  • Oversee all communications channels, including website, social media, email marketing, public relations, advertising, and content strategy.
  • Manage media relations, press outreach, speaking opportunities, spokesperson preparation, and external partnerships.
  • Ensure consistent brand identity, messaging, and quality across all communications materials.
  • Oversee production of newsletters, annual reports, fundraising appeals, presentations, videos, brochures, and campaign assets.
  • Partner with the Advancement team to support fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, sponsorships, and philanthropy.
  • Collaborate with the Science team to communicate research progress and translate technical information for public audiences.
  • Support executive communications, including presentations, talking points, and thought leadership opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of communications, marketing, or public relations experience
  • Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Management experience preferred

Preferred

  • Experience with digital marketing, analytics, CRM/email platforms, and content management systems
  • Strong strategic thinking and project management abilities
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
