Job Summary

Own the university web content engine from drafting to governance, balancing SEO, accessibility, and brand voice while turning complex topics into user friendly content for students, staff, and the public.

  • Content strategy and governance: manage CMS publishing, accessibility standards, and brand-consistent messaging.
  • Collaboration and translation: work with subject matter experts and campus partners to translate complex info into clear digital content and identify needs.
  • Performance and innovation: analyze content metrics to improve engagement and explore emerging tech including AI to boost efficiency.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, edit, and distribute website content in DSU’s brand voice, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Create, edit, and optimize web content using SEO best practices.
  • Ensure content meets accessibility standards, follows web governance guidelines, and supports an inclusive user experience.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex information into clear, user-focused content.
  • Analyze content performance and recommend improvements based on user behavior and engagement metrics.
  • Consult with campus partners to identify content needs and develop effective digital communication solutions.
  • Occasionally, collaborate with colleagues on additional communications, including media releases, magazines, newsletter content, video storytelling, etc., as time allows.

Requirements

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with demonstrated knowledge of AP Style.
  • Strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) best practices with a demonstrated ability to create clear, engaging content for various audiences.
  • Experience managing and publishing content within a content management system (CMS).
  • Knowledge of applicable software such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Willingness to explore and implement emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence tools, to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently on a wide variety of tasks and prioritize competing demands.
  • At least two years’ experience in journalism, public relations, communications, web writing, or a related setting OR
  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, web content creation, or a related field, completed by date of application.
