Job Summary

Own the city’s digital content and storytelling engine, turning policies and programs into accessible, user-first web and social experiences while aligning with department priorities.

  • Cross-department collaboration and optimization: maintain an editorial calendar, measure performance, and drive improvements based on analytics and user behavior.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Digital strategy and content leadership: Own strategy and standards for city digital content.
  • Coordinate and maintain the city’s digital content to be accurate, accessible, timely, user-friendly, and aligned with priorities.
  • Develop high-quality digital materials (stories, graphics, videos, interactive features) to boost public awareness of city programs and services.
  • Manage content standards and style guidelines; establish best practices for UX, accessibility, and plain-language communication.
  • Maintain a citywide digital editorial calendar; coordinate content planning with city departments.
  • Translate complex policies, projects, and program information into clear content for web, social, and public-facing platforms.
  • Support major initiatives, outreach campaigns, public engagement activities, and emergency communications through digital storytelling.
  • Partner with departments to develop and maintain audience-focused project pages and communication materials.
  • Website and content governance: Lead governance, ensuring consistency, quality, and accessibility standards.
  • Monitor content performance, engagement, and user behavior; provide coaching and recommendations based on analytics.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in communications, digital media, public relations, graphic design, information technology, or a related field; and four years of experience creating, managing, or coordinating digital content, websites, or multimedia.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to pass reference checks and education verification, and satisfy the requirements of a background check.
