Job Summary

Own and orchestrate fundraising communications and grant writing to turn priorities into donor-centered narratives that move revenue across major gifts, grants and institutional funding.

  • Own strategic fundraising communications and grant-writing processes across donors, foundations, and government funders.
  • Own donor lifecycle messaging from cultivation to stewardship to upgrade, aligned with program goals and brand voice.
  • Own data-informed storytelling and campaign optimization with development operations to improve conversion and grant outcomes.

Job Description

Own and orchestrate fundraising communications and grant writing to turn priorities into donor-centered storytelling and revenue across major gifts, grants, and institutional funding.

  • Responsibilities: Translate fundraising priorities into donor-centered messaging that drives revenue.
  • Contribute to development of case for support, campaign messaging frameworks, and narrative positioning.
  • Ensure alignment between development communications, marketing, and organizational brand voice.
  • Lead the writing and project management of grant proposals, letters of intent, and reports for funders.
  • Collaborate with program and development staff to define goals, logic models, and outcomes.
  • Manage relationships with program staff and contribute to funder communications as needed.
  • Support efforts to secure approximately $2M+ in annual institutional funding.
  • Donor Communications & Lifecycle Strategy: Create tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship materials for major and mid-level donors.
  • Support donor journey communications across acquisition, retention, and upgrade strategies.
  • Draft high-level correspondence for senior leadership and Board members.
  • Requirements: Minimum of five years of professional writing experience.
  • Demonstrated success in grant writing, fundraising communications, or related work strongly preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, particularly in education, arts, or cultural institutions, preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Integrity, ethical conduct, and a commitment to CPLF’s mission.
  • Nice to have: Demonstrated success in grant writing, fundraising communications, or related work strongly preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, particularly in education, arts, or cultural institutions, preferred.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) and donor databases would be advantageous.
