Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Craft and distribute press releases, media alerts, media kits, and other public relations materials.
  • Coordinate media interviews and promotional opportunities related to concerts, events, education programs, and community initiatives.
  • Support storytelling and public relations efforts designed to increase awareness of the Winston-Salem Symphony and its programs.
  • Collaborate with the Patron, Education, and Philanthropy Teams to help ensure cohesive organizational messaging.
  • Proofread and edit marketing and communications materials and collateral for accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Develop and execute social media content in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and appropriate staff.
  • Create and manage social media and digital promotional campaigns supporting concerts, programs, events, and organizational initiatives.
  • Manage ongoing social media posting, monitoring, responses, and platform maintenance.
  • Collaborate on video content production and audience engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and support digital marketing and public relations strategies designed to increase visibility, engagement, ticket sales, donations, and other organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; education in marketing, communications, public relations, arts administration, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Creative thinker who can translate organizational priorities into engaging communications and content.
  • Flexible, adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable responding to changing priorities.
  • Strong technological aptitude and experience working with social media platforms, website content management systems, and digital communications tools.
  • Experience with platforms such as WordPress and Meta for Business or comparable tools is preferred.
  • Ability to learn and utilize new technologies and platforms as needed.
