Job Summary

Own and drive Tulsa County's video and digital communications from concept through distribution, including strategy, production, social listening, stakeholder engagement, and crisis/public-facing messaging.

Responsibilities

  • Video production, to include story development, planning, script writing, filming, editing, and proofing videos.
  • Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to help share informational and educational content with the public.
  • Monitors Tulsa County social media accounts and respond to public inquiries.
  • Monitors social media platforms to gain an understanding of public sentiment and current conversations related to all County operations.
  • Participates in development of communication strategies with other members of the Communications team.
  • Execute strategies through social media campaigns. Assists with the development of new digital communications initiatives.
  • Assists with various communications and engagement programs online and on multiple social media channels.
  • Collaborate with communications department on large projects/events , podcasts, and crisis communications situations.
  • Photographs of various Tulsa County and community events and activities.
  • Serve as backup media spokesperson

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, supplemented by two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Possession or the ability to readily obtain a valid Class D Oklahoma driver’s license.
  • Previous experience in municipal government is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of storytelling, journalism, and social media marketing.
  • Knowledge of various editing programs.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • Knowledge of correct grammar and usage.
  • Skill to write articles, brochures, collateral material, and newsletters on a wide variety of subjects using clear, credible, and innovative technique.
  • Skill to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office and graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in municipal government is preferred but not required.
