Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Communications team in developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies
  • Develop organizational brand positioning, messaging architecture, and voice guidelines
  • Oversee production of multimedia content, including videos, graphics, podcasts, and written materials
  • Manage social media, website, newsletters, and all public-facing communications channels
  • Serve as organizational spokesperson and manage crisis communications during emergencies
  • Coordinate with Marketing Officer to provide creative assets supporting recruitment campaigns
  • Cultivate media relationships and position leadership as thought leaders in humanitarian coordination
  • Direct content strategy supporting fundraising campaigns and donor communications
  • Ensure brand consistency across all channels and organizational materials
  • Monitor performance metrics and optimize strategies based on engagement data
  • Manage communications budget and allocate resources across team priorities
  • Report to Executive Director and Board on communications performance and strategy
  • Lead quarterly strategic planning and integrated campaign coordination with the Marketing team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
  • 7+ years progressive communications experience with 3+ years in leadership roles
  • Proven track record in developing and executing multi-channel communication strategies
  • Experience managing creative teams and coordinating cross-functional initiatives
  • Strong background in nonprofit, humanitarian, or mission-driven organizations preferred
  • Demonstrated success in building organizational reputation and managing public relations
  • Experience with crisis communications and rapid response situations
  • Portfolio demonstrating strategic communications leadership and measurable results
  • Proficiency with communications tools, analytics platforms, and content management systems
  • Time Commitment: at least 10 hours per week.

Preferred

  • Experience communicating complex humanitarian coordination to diverse global audiences
  • Track record of developing and leading integrated campaigns with measurable impact
  • Experience working with Slack-based platforms or tech-enabled humanitarian coordination
