Job Summary

Own media relations and press communications to raise ATFL’s profile with reporters and outlets covering the Middle East, Lebanon, and policy issues, while coordinating interview logistics, drafting key materials, and guiding digital messaging.

  • Media Relations: Build reporter relationships, maintain press databases, monitor coverage, and identify engagement opportunities.
  • Communications & Content: Draft statements, press releases, talking points, newsletters, and editor-ready materials; maintain calendars and rapid-response content.
  • Digital & Collaboration: Support social channels, coordinate with staff/consultants on graphics and website updates, and align messaging across leaders and policy teams.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Media Relations & Press Outreach
  • Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, producers, bookers, and media outlets relevant to ATFL’s work and mission
  • Track key journalists covering Lebanon, the Middle East, U.S. foreign policy, diaspora communities, and related issues
  • Assist in pitching stories, statements, interviews, expert commentary, and organizational initiatives to media outlets
  • Maintain and update media lists and press contact databases
  • Monitor media coverage relevant to ATFL and help identify engagement opportunities
  • Coordinate logistics and preparation for media interviews, press outreach, and public-facing engagements
  • Communications Support
  • Draft, edit, and proofread press releases, statements, talking points, media advisories, newsletters, and related materials
  • Support message development and ensure consistency across ATFL communications

Requirements

  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in media relations, journalism, public affairs, advocacy, or strategic communications
  • Ability to build professional relationships and communicate effectively with external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience with social media platforms and digital communications tools
  • Familiarity with Middle East policy, Lebanon, Capitol Hill, advocacy organizations, or nonprofit communications is a plus
  • Experience in journalism, communications, public affairs, nonprofits, campaigns, think tanks, or government is preferred
