Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute proactive press strategies to generate coverage for gallery artists, exhibitions, publications, and special initiative
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with editors, journalists, writers, critics, and media outlets in the arts and culture sectors
  • Respond to incoming press inquiries and coordinate interviews, photography requests, media visits, and other coverage opportunities
  • Produce press releases, media alerts, and press materials
  • Maintain and continuously expand the gallery's press contact database
  • Track, compile, and report on media coverage and campaign performance
  • Oversee the planning and execution of on-site and off-site gallery events, collaborating with artists, collectors, institutional partners, vendors, and internal teams to ensure successful programming, strong attendance, and alignment with communications and marketing objectives
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and external partners on advertisements and promotional materials.
  • Coordinate the promotion and distribution of gallery publications
  • Work closely with Sales, and Online Content teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communications

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in communications, public relations, or press outreach, preferably within the contemporary art world
  • Bachelor's degree in Art History, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • Demonstrated success securing media coverage and cultivating press relationships
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing professional social media accounts and content strategies
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams
  • High level of attention to detail and a proactive, self-directed work style

Preferred

  • Established relationships with arts and culture media
  • Experience with AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.)
  • Experience with social media analytics and content management tools
  • Proficiency in a foreign language.
  • Familiarity with Artlogic
  • Experience working with artists, galleries, museums, or cultural organizations
