The Communications & Engagement Specialist plays a critical role in advancing this mission by implementing communications and stakeholder engagement strategies for Glick Philanthropies. The Ideal Candidate Will Have a strong foundation of communications skills (i.e. attention to detail and writing), the project management skills and drive to implement plans effectively, a desire to support the nonprofit community; and the creativity, flexibility, and curiosity to evolve with the organization. As a member of a small team, you will work closely with all team members and have a significant voice in determining the organization’s communications and engagement strategy. Working in partnership with the Communications & Engagement Manager, you will serve as the organization’s primary content creator, including writing for various channels. Responsibilities Communications Coordinate the full social media lifecycle. This includes content development, posting, engagement, and reporting. Manage content and updates for the Glick Philanthropies and Glick Housing Foundation websites. This includes developing an editorial calendar for content, drafting content, and ensuring the websites are up to date. Develop and distribute email newsletters. This includes collaborating with peers to source content ideas, developing content, displaying the content in an engaging manner, managing the editing process, distributing the final product, reporting on newsletters’ performance, and recommending adjustments to improve engagement. Support video, photography, and multimedia content creation. This includes identifying stories, conducting interviews, and coordinating production logistics. Develop content for various channels and formats. This includes presentations, one-pagers, reports, collateral, thought leadership, announcements, blog posts, media materials, emails, and all other necessary content. Conduct media monitoring and provide media relations support. This includes partnering with the Communications & Engagement Manager to set a proactive and reactive media relations strategy, develop media materials, pitch media, and monitor news coverage. Provide communications and copyediting support to other team members. Perform metric tracking and reporting. Stakeholder Engagement Partner with focus area portfolio managers to support engagement with nonprofit partners and the broader nonprofit community, including beyond-the-check supports to grant recipients. Support event planning and coordination. This includes partnering with team members to plan and coordinate events, including peer and nonprofit partner convenings, board meetings, and Glick family engagements. Research & Project Management Responsible for managing various projects utilizing the project management system to ensure clear roles, responsibilities, and deadline completion. Conduct assigned research to inform our strategies and communications. Qualifications Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or equivalent experience required. Three or more years of applicable communications experience. Experience working for or with nonprofits or philanthropy is a plus. Strong alignment with Glick Philanthropies’ mission and values of equity, compassion, and integrity. Strong copywriting and editing abilities. Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to read and comprehend the English language. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet designated deadlines, and project manage. Possesses a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent organizational and workload prioritizing skills. Ability to organize, facilitate, and manage projects and meetings in an efficient and effective manner. Working knowledge of content management systems (WordPress, preferred) and digital graphics production (such as Canva and Adobe Suite). Experience managing social media platforms and social media marketing (currently active on Facebook and LinkedIn). General digital advertising knowledge is a plus. Familiarity with Google Analytics and other reporting systems. Proficiency with basic office equipment and extensive knowledge of MS Office products. Flexibility is a key attribute for this position. A willingness to take on additional duties to ensure the success of the team is essential. Ability to work a flexible schedule, occasionally including evening and weekend meetings or events as necessary. Fluent in Spanish is a plus.
