Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Communications planning and leadership: Contribute to the marketing plan, priority audiences and positioning developed with the agency, and translate them into an in-house content calendar and delivery plan agreed with the Director of Operations.
  • Make day-to-day decisions about content, timing and channels without the need for sign-off on routine output, escalating sensitive or reputational matters to the Director of Operations.
  • Act as guardian of the Renewal Programme’s brand, tone of voice and visual identity, including our new strapline and messaging, ensuring they are applied consistently across all channels, materials and agency output.
  • Agency liaison: Act as the agency’s day-to-day client contact, working alongside the Director of Operations, who retains senior oversight of the partnership.
  • Provide the organisational knowledge, stories and content the agency needs.
  • Review agency output before publication, approving it or requesting changes to ensure accuracy, consistency with our values and appropriate consent.
  • With the Director of Operations, monitor the agency’s performance against agreed objectives and KPIs, track activity against the agreed budget, and report to the Director of Operations, contributing to the six-month and annual reviews of the partnership.
  • Take ownership of the templates, brand assets, frameworks and documentation the agency develops, keeping them up to date and making sure colleagues use them.
  • Coordinate the gathering of stories and content from frontline teams on behalf of the agency, acting as a single route for requests so that services are not overloaded.
  • Content and channels: Plan, create and publish engaging content showcasing the charity’s frontline work on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other platforms we use, managing our accounts and responding to engagement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a communications, marketing or digital role, including planning and delivering content across several channels with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise your own workload, manage several projects at once and make sound decisions independently, knowing when to escalate.
  • Confidence to build relationships with, and influence, colleagues at all levels and external partners.
  • Strong design skills, including creating engaging graphics in Canva, and experience of producing digital and printed materials.
  • Experience of taking photographs and filming and editing short-form video for social media.
  • Experience of updating websites using a content management system.
  • Ability to use analytics to evaluate communications performance and report findings with recommendations.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Good understanding of data protection and consent requirements in communications.
