Job Summary

Own end-to-end luxury rail travel content from research to publication, shaping destination guides, itineraries, hotel and attraction descriptions, and marketing materials while collaborating with travel consultants and maintaining a consistent brand voice for luxury and specialist audiences.

  • Plan and publish destination guides, day-by-day itineraries, and pre-departure information
  • Ensure accuracy, tone, and alignment with brand across websites, brochures, and campaigns
  • Coordinate with editors, writers and stakeholders to meet publication deadlines

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Research African destinations, rail routes and luxury travel experiences
  • Produce accurate and engaging destination guides
  • Write content for luxury rail holidays and tailor-made itineraries
  • Create descriptions of hotels, lodges, excursions and cultural attractions
  • Develop website landing pages for destinations and travel products
  • Write clear summaries of rail routes, cabins and onboard services
  • Prepare day-by-day itinerary content
  • Create pre-departure guides and practical travel information
  • Write content covering climate, transport, entry requirements and local customs
  • Review destination information for accuracy and relevance

Requirements

  • Degree or professional qualification in Travel and Tourism, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, English or a related subject
  • At least two years of experience in travel content, digital publishing, tourism marketing or editorial work
  • Strong experience researching and writing destination content
  • Excellent written English and editorial skills
  • Ability to create informative and persuasive travel copy
  • Experience producing content for websites or digital platforms
  • Strong proofreading and fact-checking abilities
  • Ability to maintain a consistent brand voice
  • Understanding of customer journeys and travel-planning needs
  • Experience working with content-management systems

Preferred

  • Previous experience with a tour operator or travel company
  • Knowledge of luxury rail services such as Rovos Rail or the Blue Train
  • Experience writing about Southern or Eastern Africa
  • Familiarity with safari, cultural or luxury-hospitality products
  • Experience producing detailed travel itineraries
  • Knowledge of WordPress or another content-management system
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics 4
  • Experience using Google Search Console
  • Knowledge of SEO tools and keyword-research platforms
  • Familiarity with Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud
