Communications Officer (Digital Media)

Responsibilities

• producing high-quality content across the Council’s digital channels to engage with our community
• write press releases and copy for our borough magazine, social media channels, weekly staff e-newsletter and community website, One Welwyn Hatfield
• develop social media campaigns to raise the council’s profile
• developing excellent working relationships with colleagues and teams from across the council will be key to ensuring their key messages are being communicated effectively to residents
• manage and adapt to flexible and creative approaches to communications
• ensure key messages are communicated effectively to residents and to raise the council’s profile
• drive engagement with the skills to create scroll-stopping content
• planning, developing and delivering digital content strategies across multiple channels

Requirements

• experience in a previous communications role within the public sector or the third sector (charities and non-profit organisations)
• exceptional communication skills
• eye for detail
• converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post
• full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel across the borough
• The role is hybrid with the expectation of attending the office at least one day per week, and to attend meetings, training and visits
• The ability to manage conflicting priorities and work well under pressure when needed
