Job Summary

Own BBC brand insight to guide strategy with strong cross-functional partners and a clear focus on audience and societal context, turning deep research into actionable brand narratives.

  • Brand Narrative Ownership: Evolve the brand insight voice and ensure tracking translates to organisation-wide actions.
  • Cultural & Audience Lens: Produce an annual view of UK cultural shifts that flags opportunities and risks for leadership.
  • Strategic Topic Research: Lead cross-functional studies on topics like mental health, sustainability, and AI to shape marketing, policy, and partnerships.

Job Description

Own brand insight to shape BBC strategy with cross-functional partners and embed audience understanding at its core.

  • Lead insight that informs and shapes BBC brand strategy, partnering closely with the Masterbrand and CSI planning teams to embed audience and societal understanding at its heart.
  • Own and continuously evolve the BBC brand insight narrative, using tracking tools to generate clear, actionable insight into how the BBC remains trusted, relevant and distinctive, and embedding this insight across the organisation
  • Deliver a flagship annual perspective on UK cultural shifts, identifying what matters most to audiences and translating this into clear opportunities and risks for the BBC.
  • Lead research into critical topics shaping audience needs now and in the future (e.g. mental health, sustainability, AI). This requires working cross-functionally to embed insight across marketing, strategy, policy and partnerships teams.
  • Be part of the team behind the Audience Briefing. The Audience Briefing is a weekly report that goes out to all BBC staff, delivering the key takeaways on audience performance and competitor activity.
