Job Summary

Own and deliver social content operations for Action for Children, leading content creation, channel management, community engagement, trend monitoring, campaign support, influencer coordination, reporting and reputational monitoring, while collaborating with the wider team to drive impact across campaigns and services.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Content creation: plan, film, shoot and edit engaging, audience-first content, including short-form video, photography and graphics, for our social media channels, working with key stakeholders across the charity.
  • Channel management: support the day-to-day running of Action for Children's social channels, including scheduling, publishing and monitoring content, in line with our procedures and key messages.
  • Community management: engage with and nurture our online community, responding to comments and messages and helping maintain a positive brand sentiment online.
  • Trend monitoring: keep on top of social media trends, platform updates and emerging content formats, bringing fresh ideas to the team.
  • Campaign support: work with the Senior Social Media Manager and colleagues across the organisation to bring campaigns, services, policy and fundraising initiatives to life on social media.
  • Influencer support: help coordinate influencer partnerships and user-generated content to amplify brand reach and engagement.
  • Reporting: use analytics tools to track content and channel performance, helping the team make data-driven decisions.
  • Reputation: bring any reputational issues to the immediate attention of the Senior Social Media Manager and other colleagues.
  • Team collaboration: work closely with the wider social media and communications team on planning and delivery of content.

Requirements

  • Qualification in social media, marketing, communications or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Practical, hands-on skills in camera operation, video editing and graphic design, with confident use of the Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Premiere Pro and Photoshop) to produce high-quality content in-house.
  • Demonstrable experience creating engaging content for social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or TikTok.
  • Experience managing or supporting the day-to-day running of organic social media channels.
  • Community management experience, responding to audiences in a positive, on-brand way.
  • Working knowledge of social media analytics and scheduling tools.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in stakeholder management
  • Experience working on projects and campaigns within multidisciplinary teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Awareness of crisis communications and reputation management as they apply to social media.
