Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead and shape communications for Cumbria Combined Authority at a pivotal stage in its development.
  • Lead the development and delivery of strategic communications and marketing activity, driving engagement, raising awareness and building the Authority's reputation both locally and nationally.
  • Act as the Authority's senior communications adviser, providing expert guidance on high-profile, complex and sensitive issues.
  • Lead a professional Communications and Marketing team, overseeing media relations, stakeholder engagement, digital communications, branding, campaigns, internal communications and major events.
  • From promoting investment and economic growth opportunities to supporting organisational change and managing communications during critical situations, you'll play a central role in helping the Authority achieve its ambitions and establish itself as a trusted and influential voice for Cumbria.

Requirements

  • An experienced communications leader who can combine strategic vision with practical delivery.
  • Strong track record of leading communications and marketing within a complex organisation, providing trusted advice to senior leaders, managing reputation and media relations, and delivering impactful campaigns that engage a range of audiences.
  • Excellent communicator with strong leadership and relationship-building skills, able to influence at all levels and develop high-performing teams.
  • Expertise across strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, branding and digital channels.
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities, exercising sound judgement and delivering results in a fast-paced and high-profile environment.
  • Passion about using communications to make a positive difference and help shape Cumbria's future.
