Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of public relations and policy content, including press releases, op-eds, policy briefs, articles, statements, talking points, blog posts, and executive communications that advance organizational priorities and strengthen external voice.
  • Translate complex policy, research, and advocacy topics into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with priority audiences, including media, providers, policymakers, partners, and the public.
  • Serve as the organization’s primary in-house resource for PR, policy, and other writing, ensuring all are high-quality, timely, and on-brand deliverables.
  • Partner closely with marketing, communications, leadership, and programmatic teams to shape messaging, respond to emerging issues, and proactively position the organization in external conversations.
  • Contribute to broader marketing and communications efforts, providing writing support for campaigns, web content, newsletters, and other channels as needed.
  • Draft and refine media-facing materials, including quotes, rapid-response statements, key messages, and background materials to support media engagement and thought leadership.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, executives, and partners to gather insights and develop authoritative content that reflects the organization’s expertise and perspective.
  • Support strategic communications planning, helping identify opportunities for visibility through earned media, policy engagement, and thought leadership.
  • Coordinate with external partners or agencies when needed, providing direction, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring alignment with internal strategy and messaging.
  • Monitor and assess the performance and impact of PR and policy content, using insights to refine messaging and improve effectiveness over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field.
  • Demonstrated background in public policy writing
  • 5+ years of related experience developing and delivering content across a broad range of platforms and formats.
  • Exceptional communicator and strategic thinker with a proven ability to translate complex concepts into easily digestible and compelling content.
  • Data-driven and easily able to translate data into meaningful insights to influence future content creation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work well in a team environment with a proven track record in driving partnerships and relationships with internal and external functions/partners.
  • Ability to contribute effectively, move quickly, and work collaboratively across all departments and levels of the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Experience in health care industry and strong understanding of US policy environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in/knowledge of oral health industry.
  • Experience creating content using an industry-advancing voice and positioning.
  • Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
