Responsibilities

• Design and build clean, fast, mobile-first websites — primarily in WordPress
• Take a project from concept/wireframe through to a fully built, functioning site
• Maintain and update VOARVUE's own website as our business evolves
• Work directly with the founder to understand each project's goals and translate them into a real site, not just a template with new logos dropped in
• Troubleshoot and fix issues on existing sites as needed
• Design visually compelling and user-friendly websites using tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch, ensuring a seamless user experience across devices.
• Develop responsive web pages utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, React, Bootstrap, and other front-end frameworks to deliver fast-loading, accessible websites.
• Create prototypes and wireframes to visualize concepts and facilitate stakeholder feedback using tools such as InVision, Balsamiq, Axure, or Figma.
• Implement web accessibility standards (WCAG) and usability best practices to ensure inclusive digital experiences for all users.
• Optimize websites for SEO performance by integrating analytics tools like Google Analytics 360 and Adobe Analytics to monitor traffic and engagement metrics.

Requirements

• Strong, demonstrated skill in both web design and web development — we need someone who can do both, not hand off half the work to someone else
• Deep working knowledge of WordPress, including theme customization and page builders (Elementor, Divi, or similar)
• A portfolio that shows real, launched websites — not just mockups
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly and proactively — this is a remote, contract relationship, so we need someone who doesn't need to be micromanaged to hit deadlines
• Available to start immediately
• Proven experience designing and developing websites with a strong portfolio showcasing responsive designs across desktop and mobile platforms.
• Expertise in HTML5, CSS3 (including SCSS/SASS), JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular; familiarity with Node.js is a plus.
• Proficiency in graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; experience creating motion graphics with Adobe After Effects is advantageous.
• Solid understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG), usability principles, information architecture, and interaction design methodologies.
• Experience working with content management systems like WordPress, Drupal or SharePoint; familiarity with website maintenance tasks is essential.
