Responsibilities

• Designs, implements and manages a comprehensive revenue generating programs to address the immediate and longterm needs of the organization.
• Manages the Philanthropy and Communications teams in a manner which defines responsibilities and ensures that the department budgets, goals and objectives are met in an efficient and effective manner.
• Responsible for hiring, supervising, motivating and coaching Philanthropy and Communications team members.
• Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards current and prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, community organizations, foundations and government agencies.
• Oversees the system of prospect identification and evaluation and monitors prospect research to ensure timely dissemination of results.
• Establishes and manages procedures for securing and recording gifts and acknowledging donors to ensure timely execution and response.
• Calls donors with gifts of $1,000 or more to cultivate and steward the relationships.
• Develops and manages the annual department budgets.
• Tracks progress of fundraising efforts and proposed plans and reports to President/CEO.
• Serves as staff liaison to the Major Gifts & Philanthropy Committee, being responsible for preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes, assembling talking points and materials as well as followup with members, as well as training and coaching members as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in related field required; master’s degree preferred.
• Must possess a proven track record in developing and managing fundraising programs including supervisory experience in philanthropy, event planning, grant writing, prospect research, planned giving, donor cultivation and stewardship, and marketing of nonprofit organizations.
• Minimum of eight years of progressive philanthropy experience with a minimum of five years leading teams to raise annual, capital, corporate, foundation and planned giving support.
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to develop and achieve short and longterm goals, identify and resolve complex issues, pay strict attention to detail, and handle multiple priorities.
• Firsthand experience with the identification, cultivation, solicitation and closure of major gifts of $25,000+.
• Solid interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills to effectively interface with internal and external constituencies including staff, Board, volunteers, donors and prospects.
• Computer literacy required, including experience with database management software programs. Experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of fundraising profession best practices and ethical standards, with a CFRE designation preferred.
• Must be available for evening hours and weekends to support organizational events.
