Meta is looking for a Visual Designer to join WhatsApp to create illustration and icon systems. The role involves partnering with teams across WhatsApp to create system icons for various platforms, as well as illustrations in an established style. We’re looking for an experienced creative especially in illustration and iconography on product. The role includes executing creative briefs, working closely with cross-functional partners, and ensuring quality throughout the entire creation process, including production responsibilities. In this role, you’ll collaborate with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Brand Designers, Motion Designers, Product Designers, and Engineers, and provide a creative point of view to help grow and evolve the work from a design perspective. Responsibilities Lead and bring innovation to illustrations and icon systems, shaping a clear point of view for the product’s next phase Elevate the highest level of visual design craft across our products Establish concepts and illustrations that reflect product nuances and brand positioning Navigate complex cross-functional partnerships and deliver practical solutions on time Collaborate closely with Product Designers, Content Strategists, Art Directors, and Creative Directors to understand how the product needs map within an illustration/animation system Help shape the vision for the next phase of our illustration, icon, and creative design systems—uniting how all aspects of the product (content, design, and illustration) work together, and how illustration can strengthen the user experience Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of experience in design, with a focus on illustration and iconography in product A visual portfolio that demonstrates design in product illustration, iconography, and systems thinking Proficient with Figma, Adobe Illustrator (vector graphics), Photoshop Experience working on digital products (apps and/or operating systems) Preferred Qualifications Android or iOS experiences AI Creative Work and/or Gen AI prompt engineering Experience designing typography (ideally typefaces/fonts) Lottie animation experiences Editorial illustrations with storyboarding $122,000/year to $175,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
