The Foundation & Alumni Relations Student Worker provides administrative and event support for the Development and Alumni Relations Office and Waubonsee Community College Foundation. Responsibilities include office support, data and file management, and event preparation. This position provides students with exposure to nonprofit fundraising, alumni engagement, and event operations within a higher education environment. The student worker reports to the Executive Director of Development and Executive Director of the Waubonsee Foundation.
Responsibilities
Assist with the organization of documents and files by scanning, filing, and digitizing important information.
Prepare mailings and other items as needed related to events and office activities.
Learn and promote upcoming enrollment information, community programs/events and all services.
Perform basic office duties such as answering the phone, retrieving the mail, making copies, etc.
Maintain an inventory of all Foundation and Alumni Relations giveaways.
Help to prepare and set up/clean up for meetings and events.
Completes other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Development and Executive Director of the Waubonsee Foundation.
Minimum Qualifications
A Waubonsee student enrolled in at least one credit.
Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 or above.
Be in good standing with Student Conduct.
Be making Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Must be able to lift and transport items up to 25 pounds
Must demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and reliability in handling donor and student information.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work 10-20 hours per week (The office is open 8am – 4:30pm Monday-Friday).
Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.
Attention to detail
Reliability and punctuality
Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Positive and professional demeanor in public-facing settings
Experience with Outlook email, Windows, and Microsoft Word.
