We're hiring our founding cohort of State News Anchors — one per state plus the Capitol — to cover state-level politics in the short-form video format Gen Z and millennials actually watch.

The Role

You will be the voice of [Your State] on Aebly Media. Daily short-form vertical video briefs (60-90 seconds) covering your governor, senators, state legislature, and the bills that actually shape life in your state.

This is a founding-cohort contractor role. You own your name, your voice, and your audience. Aebly Media owns the show.

What you'll do

• Produce short-form video briefs per week (60-90 seconds)
• Cover your state's governor, legislature, congressional delegation, and key state-level policy
• Bring your own editorial perspective — we're not handing you scripts
• Build a state-level audience that follows civic news through you

What we provide

• Distribution across Aebly Media's platform and channels
• Brand support, analytics, and editorial framework
• Compensation: base retainer + per-1K-views performance pay + revenue share on brand deals

You should apply if

• You live in (or report from) a U.S. state and know its politics
• You've made short-form video content before — TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts
• You're comfortable on camera and can produce video on a phone or basic gear
• You have a point of view but can ground it in facts
• You want to build something instead of working for legacy media

• Per-1K-views performance pay
• Brand deals split (performance based)

Editorial freedom + ownership

Anchors decide what's worth covering in their state. We provide distribution; you own your name, voice, and personal channels. Soft exclusivity for state political content; full freedom on personal brand.

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, not an employment position. Aebly Media LLC is hiring contractors who maintain control over their own work, schedule, and methods. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, equipment, and work conditions.

Compensation structure (base retainer, per-view performance pay, brand deal revenue share) is offered as contractor compensation under written agreement. Specific rates are discussed individually and finalized in the contractor agreement signed before any work begins.

Either party may terminate the contractor relationship at any time, in accordance with the terms of the executed contractor agreement.
