Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the brand and narrative strategy for developer-facing work across GitHub and the Microsoft developer platform.
  • Translate company strategy, product vision, audience insight, market position, and our cultural DNA into clear creative direction.
  • Build narrative and messaging systems that connect product truth, developer needs, customer evidence, technical proof, and business outcomes.
  • Ensure launches, campaigns, demos, customer stories, web, social, editorial content, field assets, and executive moments reinforce a coherent platform story.
  • Protect the distinctiveness and developer authenticity of GitHub while helping Microsoft present a more connected developer experience.
  • Partner closely with product and engineering leaders to ensure narratives are technically credible and grounded in real developer value.
  • Set and continually raise the creative bar for developer-facing storytelling, writing, editing, motion, video, demos, social, web, and executive content.
  • Lead priority programs from early strategy and briefing through concept development, production, distribution, and performance review.
  • Directly shape briefs, narratives, concepts, critiques, production plans, and major deliverables.
  • Champion creative work that is clear, human, technically astute, and authentic to developer audiences.

Requirements

  • 12+ years experience at an agency or with brand marketing, communications, marketing strategy, social media, customer evidence, or related field
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 10+ years experience at an agency or with brand marketing, communications, marketing strategy, social media, customer evidence, or related field
  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 8+ years experience at an agency or with brand marketing, communications, marketing strategy, social media, customer evidence, or related field
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years experience executing a communications or marketing strategy.
  • 10+ years experience with marketing and campaign management.
  • 10+ years experience working cross-functionally with other teams (e.g., Design, Communications, Revenue, Customer Success, external agencies/internal).

Preferred

  • Experience building brand strategies, narrative systems, messaging architectures, creative platforms, or content operating models for complex technical audiences.
  • Deep understanding of how developers and modern software teams work, and how AI is changing the software-development lifecycle.
  • Experience connecting content and creative investments to audience engagement, developer activation, product usage, or other measurable outcomes.
  • Technical fluency and working knowledge of GitHub sufficient to build credibility with developers, product teams, and engineering leaders.
  • Experience scaling a content or creative production system while improving quality, speed, role clarity, and organizational trust.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and major programs from strategy and concept through production, distribution, and performance review.
