Job Description
The Specialist – International Communications & System Engagement is a core member of Wendy’s communications team and is responsible for executing certain elements of Wendy’s communications plans, philanthropic strategies, and engagement across its global system. Partnering closely with the Director, International & System Communications and cross-functional teams, the position supports international communications, coordinating the day to day administration of Wendy’s community and charitable programs, and the planning and execution of company meetings and events. Through strong collaboration and project management, the role helps deliver engaging communications and events, and fosters the community partnerships that bring Wendy’s values to life.
Responsibilities
International Communications: Assists with the development and execution of internal and external communications plans that support Wendy’s international business. This includes developing, writing, and editing a wide range of communications materials to engage franchisees and employees, collaborating with other communications team members and business partners on internal and external storytelling, assisting with press release distribution and reporting, and identifying opportunities to connect with audiences more effectively.
Philanthropy/Community Relations: Partners with the Director, International & System Communications to implement strategies to enhance philanthropic and community initiatives. Accountable for day-to-day coordination and fundraising communication campaigns for WeCare and other charitable programs, like Wendy’s Frosty 5K and Wendy’s Community Giving Program. Together with the Director, investigates and recommends opportunities for Wendy’s to support global nonprofits through volunteerism, charitable grants, or corporate partnerships.
System Engagement: Partners with members of Wendy’s communications team and cross-functional partners to execute meeting communications and certain elements of special events and programs for Company employees and franchisees. Works with Director, International & System Communications to develop and execute plans for meetings and events like Founder’s Week, Annual Employee Meeting and quarterly earnings breakfasts, among others. Works with cross-functional partners to schedule and staff video interviews, write scripts, produce slides and coordinate with external partners in the execution of special RSC-based community events.
Executive Communications and Convention Planning: Serves as a member of the Convention team and assists with the coordination of General Session and Breakout presentations including script writing/editing, slide development, image selection, video scheduling and interviews and certain meeting logistics. Works closely with the broader Communications team to execute other Convention programming and special events for international franchisees throughout the year
Education
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, English, International Relations or related field.
2+ years’ relevant experience in Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism or related field(s), preferably with a public relations agency or large restaurant/foodservice, consumer packaged goods, retail or consumer brand. Must demonstrate brand sensitivity.
Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, and ability to build positive relationships with cross-functional partners, franchisees, and external third-party groups such as agencies and media.
Strong project management and problem-solving skills, very detail oriented (grammar, spelling, factual accuracy, etc.). Remains calm, delivers positive results under heightened deadlines and pressure.
Passion for teamwork and development in the communications field.
Experience with media and executing external communications strategies.
Comfortable operating above their level, providing support to leadership team members.
Expected Work Location (In Office): It is expected that you will primarily perform work at the Wendy's Restaurant Support Center (RSC) (1 Dave Thomas Blvd, Dublin, OH 43017), or at other location(s) as designated by the Company. You are required to work in the office at least 4 days a week. Changes to work location arrangements are subject to managerial approval and business needs. .

The base pay range for this position is $65,000-71,000/yr. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and budget for the open position and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other relevant factors. This range does not include an estimated value for any benefits, bonus, or other incentives that may be applicable based on position. The target annual bonus for this role is 10% of annualized base salary, based on actual company and personal performance.
NOTE: Wendy’s benefits, bonus, and other incentives are governed by the applicable legal plans and policies and, where appropriate, may be subject to Board approval an individual award agreement term. Those documents supersede all other information regarding Wendy’s benefits, bonus, and other incentives. Wendy’s retains the right to amend or terminate its plans and policies at its sole discretion, in accordance with applicable plans, policies and laws.
Pay Range: $63,000.00 - $107,000.00 Annually
