Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Create and adapt engaging social media content, including written posts, graphics, photos, short-form videos, carousels, and other digital content.
  • Help develop content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter/X. Assist with building and maintaining a social media content calendar.
  • Schedule approved posts across department platforms.
  • Brainstorm ideas for campaigns, recurring content series, employee spotlights, public-service messages, events, and department initiatives.
  • Help turn detailed or technical information into clear, accessible, and engaging content.
  • Monitor comments, messages, and conversations on department social media channels and respond or escalate them when appropriate.
  • Review performance data such as reach, engagement, impressions, follower growth, and content performance.
  • Help prepare reports and recommend ways to improve future content.
  • Collaborate with communications, marketing, program, and department team members to maintain consistent branding and messaging.
  • Learn and follow professional standards related to accessibility, accuracy, privacy, approvals, public comments, and government communications.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Tennessee college or university studying communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, graphic design, digital media, public administration, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms.
  • Basic experience with Canva.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and complete assignments on schedule.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Experience with photography, Photoshop, video editing software, social media scheduling tools, or analytics platforms is helpful but not required.
