Job Description
- The Social Media & Virtual Events Assistant will support the Continuing Education team by helping manage social media content and providing virtual event support.
- About 60% of the role will focus on drafting and scheduling posts for the Continuing Education Facebook and LinkedIn pages.
- The remaining 40% of the role will involve assisting with live Zoom events, including providing technical support, introducing presenters, monitoring the chat, and ensuring smooth event delivery.
- Social media content creation will be completed independently and asynchronously. Event support is provided in real time during live Zoom sessions, which may include nights and/or weekends. A schedule of upcoming events will be provided well in advance, and the supervisor will work with the student to confirm availability and coverage.
- Skills You’ll Gain Develop hands-on experience in social media content creation and digital communications Grow professional communication skills for online and live event settings Build event coordination skills, including hosting, chat moderation, and technical troubleshooting on Zoom Strengthen confidence in public speaking through introducing presenters and engaging with event attendees Practice working independently while collaborating with a professional team
- Must be detail oriented, professional, comfortable with technology, and facile in the use of social media in professional settings.
- This position entails the creation of friendly, upbeat copy as well the capacity to learn about the various hashtags and sources used in the field.
