Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Marketing Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with the firm’s business objectives while maintaining and building the integrity of SGB’s brand and community reputation. This includes overseeing the firm’s digital marketing (website development, SEO, etc.) efforts, content strategy, public relations, brand management, and marketing through traditional advertising channels. The Manager will also lead SGB’s community outreach efforts, including managing strategic partnerships with community organizations. The Manager is also responsible for staying abreast of marketing trends and implementing new strategies or technologies as necessary to achieve the firm’s marketing/business development goals. This may include, for example, identifying emerging areas of legal marketing and staying informed and ahead of industry trends to ensure effective messaging to potential clients, referring attorneys, and the community.
  • Business Development: The Manager will assist the firm and individual attorneys analyze, develop, and execute business development plans based on the firm’s and the attorney’s strategic goals.
  • Team Leadership and Communication: The Manager will serve as a key liaison between attorneys and external parties, ensuring all stakeholders are regularly updated on marketing initiatives and progress. The Manager will initiate and maintain formal communication and meeting structures and establish clear performance metrics while creating a collaborative team environment.
  • Process improvement: The Manager will analyze current marketing initiatives and workflows to identify and address inefficiencies, goal alignment, scalability, and best practices to achieve efficient return on investment. Together with the Director of Human Resources and Operations (DHRO), establish standardized processes for intake and marketing support and collaborate on cross functional initiatives to improve coordination between marketing, intake, and case management teams.
  • Resource coordination: The Manager will manage the scheduling and coordination of internal and external resources to drive success. These include, for example, coordinating with a web vendor, SEO consultants, AI services, creative agencies, the firm’s marketing committee, intake personnel, and other stakeholders relevant to the firm’s marketing and business development goals. The Manager will seek to maximize value while maintaining quality standards. To that end, the Manager will coordinate with internal stakeholders such as the DHRO to ensure that marketing efforts align with the firm’s capacity and case priorities.
  • Reporting: The Manager will prepare and distribute regular reporting frameworks, budget updates, and executive summaries for review by attorneys and firm leadership. The Manager will also track KPI’s such as cost per lead, conversion rates, and client value.
  • Public Relations Liaison: The Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for retained PR/advertising firms to ensure regional and national coverage for the Firm that aligns with established goals. The Manager will also seek to identify areas of redundancy and work towards a streamlined marketing and PR function.
  • Technology implementation: Explore and implement marketing automation tools.
  • Budget Oversight: Track marketing expenses with a focus toward return on investment and strategic alignment with established goals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of progressive marketing experience and demonstrated professional leadership
  • Experience working in professional services marketing or in any capacity in the legal industry is desired but not required
  • Proven track record of creative, effective work driving measurable results in lead generation and brand building
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to build and lead marketing teams and manage a marketing budget
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience leading individual contributors toward joint goals
  • Relationship-based marketing expert with experience developing long-term partnerships
  • Conversant in current digital marketing channels including SEO, social media, AI, and content marketing

Preferred

  • Experience working in professional services marketing or in any capacity in the legal industry is desired but not required.
  • Ability to advise and coach individuals on business development is desired but not required.
