Job Summary

Own the web content operation for a cultural nonprofit by leading a small editorial squad, shaping seasonal program narratives, and ensuring on-time publication with consistent brand voice.

  • Editorial Operations: Manage day-to-day web content workflow and intake, guiding prioritization and coordination.
  • Narrative Development: Build seasonal program narratives and campaign concepts with stakeholders.
  • Publication Excellence: Ensure AP Style adherence and high quality across site materials, while coordinating freelance copy and approvals.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day work of a collaborative Web Content team, including the Website Content Manager and Digital Content Producers
  • Lead daily team meetings to manage workflow and ensure coordination; Guide prioritization and editorial support, as needed
  • Build copy and web launch timelines with the Marketing Director and Web Content team
  • Route draft copy to stakeholders and deliver final copy to the web content team for publication
  • Oversee the intake of requests for new web content and updates
  • Collaborate with various internal teams (including Marketing, Copywriters, and Programming) for programming web announcements, ensuring projects remain on track
  • Assign and edit the work of freelance copywriters and route to appropriate stakeholders for approval
  • Collaborate with Marketing Director to develop editorial narratives for seasonal programming series, including American Songbook, Big Umbrella Festival, and others
  • Present content plans, campaign concepts, and web experiences to internal stakeholders
  • Editorial Excellence: Ensure consistency of brand voice, style guidelines, and quality standards across all published materials on the website, according to AP Styleguide

Requirements

  • 5+ years in editorial management, digital content management, and marketing—ideally within arts, culture, media, or nonprofit sectors.
  • Experience managing a team, running daily standups, and overseeing workload distribution.
  • Proficiency with Monday.com (familiarity preferred).
  • Experience managing a team of freelance writers; experience partnering with marketing, programming, creative, and freelance contributors.
  • Passion for the performing arts and experience in the entertainment industry and/or nonprofit sector.
  • Experience developing editorial narratives, campaign messaging, and content frameworks for seasonal or programmatic initiatives.
  • Strong line editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills; ability to ensure brand voice and AP Style.
  • Proven ability to align stakeholders across teams and departments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, Performing Arts, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred

  • Experience working with editorial freelancers and cross-functional teams (preferred)
  • Experience with nonprofit arts/cultural organizations (preferred)
  • Familiarity with AP Style (preferred)
