Job Summary

Own the client relationship and strategic communications execution for nonprofit and impact-focused partners, turning plans into proactive media, digital, and social programs across multiple channels.

  • Partner management: manage day-to-day client and internal-team relationships with responsiveness and clarity.
  • Program execution: develop and execute communications plans, draft messaging, and support media outreach and thought leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a reliable day-to-day partner to clients and internal teams, helping manage relationships with responsiveness, clarity, and care.
  • Support strategic communications programs, including:
  • Developing and executing communications plans
  • Contributing to proactive media, digital, and social media strategies
  • Drafting messaging, talking points, briefing documents, articles, social media posts, LinkedIn content, newsletters, website copy, and client-ready materials
  • Supporting media outreach, story development, thought leadership efforts, and owned-channel communications.
  • Helping prepare clients and senior leaders for meetings, events, interviews, digital visibility opportunities, and public-facing opportunities
  • Project manage specific lanes of work, including timelines, deadlines, next steps, and coordination across team members.
  • Staff and help manage external events for clients.
  • Track client requests and ensure timely follow-through so that questions, opportunities, and deliverables do not fall between the cracks.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of progressive professional experience in communications, public relations, strategic communications, journalism, digital communications, social media, nonprofit communications, or a related field.
  • Required experience supporting digital and/or social media communications, such as social content writing, LinkedIn or executive thought leadership, digital campaigns, analytics and reporting, community engagement, website content, email, or newsletter communications.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, polished, persuasive materials for clients and external audiences.
  • Experience supporting communications programs in a nonprofit organization, communications agency, foundation, social impact organization, policy organization, or private sector company.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Comfort working directly with clients and representing an organization with professionalism, warmth, and confidence.
  • Understanding of media, digital communications, external communications trends, and how different channels can advance strategic goals.
  • Curiosity about one or more of Newton Street’s core issue areas, including global health, women’s health, mental health, economic opportunity, climate, philanthropy, or social impact.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and sound judgment.
  • A proactive, flexible, and solutions-oriented approach to new challenges.

Preferred

  • Existing media relationships or experience supporting earned media outreach.
  • Experience working with foundations, philanthropies, nonprofits, or social impact organizations.
  • Experience supporting communications for global health, philanthropy, climate, economic opportunity, policy, or other social impact issue areas.
  • Experience translating complex or technical subject matter into clear, accessible content for public audiences.
  • Experience staffing events, executive briefings, media opportunities, or client convenings.
