Job Summary

Own caucus communications strategy and media relations, coordinating with community leaders to shape messaging and drive coverage across outlets.

  • Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with TV, radio, and digital outlets; monitor coverage and seek opportunities.
  • Messaging & Content: Lead press releases, speeches, op-eds, and digital/print materials; manage caucus messaging and overall strategy.
  • Community Outreach and Performance: Engage with community leaders and track media performance to optimize impact.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Writing press releases, speeches, op-eds, and other communications materials
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the media, including TV, radio, and digital outlets
  • Monitoring and soliciting media coverage for caucus members
  • Producing digital and print materials, such as website and social media content
  • Engaging with community leaders and organizations
  • Managing caucus messaging and overall communications strategy
  • Tracking and improving media performance, including social media
  • Outreach activities

Requirements

  • Track record of success in a similar role, including experience working on a media campaign
  • Familiarity with the Colorado legislative process and the issues important to the caucus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, political science, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in political communications
