Job Description

PRODUCTION MANAGER/ON-SITE BUILD LEAD

CMG is seeking highly experienced New York–based build producer and lead installer for a major multi-week branded environment installation in NYC this summer. This role is a seasonal project-based position that pays a minimum of $4200 per week.

This is not an “event staffing” position.

This is not a clipboard role.

This is not a position for someone who just delegates work to others.

We are looking for hands-on builders, site leads and production professionals who understand how to physically bring branded environments to life under real-world event conditions, compressed schedules, evolving site conditions and the logistical realities of New York City.

The ideal candidate can:

·      Read a render and understand how to make it become reality

·      Walk into a partially finished space and understand the steps needed to complete it

·      Build cleanly, safely and efficiently

·      Manage crews effectively without ego and lead by example

·      Solve problems without panic and preferably before they happen

·      Establish and maintain communication with venue and key stakeholders to operate within complex work environment with countless trades and logistical challenges

You should be equally comfortable:

·      Having flexible work schedule to adapt to venue/dock access availability

·      Making field modifications

·      Taking measurements and making field update drawings for graphics team to update creative and templates for art files

·      Patching/prepping/painting surfaces

·      Assembling scenic and millwork

·      Coordinating with venue and associated trades both on and off-site

·      Handling tools,

·      Building production timelines and disseminating information to key stakeholders

·      Leading crews professionally and safely

Strong working knowledge of:

·      Carpentry and fabrication

·      Installation methods

·      Surface prep/paint

·      Power & hand tools

·      Outdoor-rated materials and finishes

·      PPE and safe work practices

·      Live event environments

Candidates must be highly organized, dependable, detail-oriented, computer literate, and capable of operating independently while representing CMG professionally on site.

This role requires leadership through competence.

You will not be hidden behind layers of management.

You will be expected to think, build, solve problems, communicate clearly and help drive the success of the installation alongside the team.

PROJECT WINDOW

Primary build/install window:

Mid-July through early August (flexible for the right candidate)

Operational/event support window:

Approximately August 17 – September 16

The amount of onsite involvement during the operational period will depend on the candidate’s capabilities and overall role within the project.

REQUIREMENTS

·      Must be NYC based

·      Must have experience with live events, experiential, scenic, exhibit, entertainment or branded environment installations

·      Must be physically capable of working active construction/install environments

·      OSHA training strongly preferred

·      Must provide examples of previous work and references
