Job Description
- Hours Requirement: Internship positions are considered full-time, with 40 hours per week requested. In-office work hours are generally 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be willing to work long hours and an irregular schedule, which will include weekends, evenings, and every weekend in May.
- Compensation: Intern will earn a weekly stipend of $500. Stipend will be paid at the end of each month. No relocation or housing assistance is provided.
- Learn about and participate in event set up, tear down, and production of all events and programs (consists of early mornings and late nights).
- Assist in answering questions posed by the public in a timely manner.
- Provide support of registration procedures and processes for the IU Health 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K & 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy.
- Assist in sales and distribution of Lucas Oil 500 Festival Parade tickets.
- Assist in creating and maintaining accurate event records.
- Logistics of Solutions Desk at the Indy Mini Expo.
- Collaborate with event professionals to develop and manage program and event timelines.
- Assist and/or lead event and program research projects.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Interns will frequently work outdoors, which requires physical strength and stamina to endure heat, cold, rain and other conditions.
- Training and/or experience in meeting/event planning, recreation, tourism, marketing, special events or a related field is recommended.
- Possess strong customer service and organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, computer skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage databases.
- Require analytical skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in many different areas.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
