Job Description

We are currently looking for a Full Time Public Safety Information Officer to join our Area of Media Relations team located at the Public Affairs office.

Summary:

Monitors activities of the Lighthorse Police and Chickasaw Nation courts, emergency management, emergency medical services and other programs, and distributing information as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency
  • Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
  • Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
  • Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment
  • Maintains and promotes professionalism
  • Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics
  • Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards
  • Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area
  • Monitors Chickasaw Nation divisions and departments for new programs, services, events activities, awards, etc. for opportunities to distribute information to Chickasaw people and the public
  • Works cooperatively with members of the media to share information relating to Chickasaw Nation programs, services, accomplishments or points of view
  • Compiles information and make recommendations regarding the release of information
  • Responds to requests from external media
  • Complies and shares related photos, video, press release, fact sheet and fliers with external media
  • Monitors media interviews with Chickasaw Nation employees
  • Monitors media visits to Chickasaw Nation events and facilities
  • Writes and prepares press releases, media advisories, articles, public service announcements to provide meaningful information about Chickasaw Nation programs, services, accomplishments or points of view to Chickasaw people and the public
  • Generates ideas and prepares visual assets to support and promote social media campaigns
  • Provides recommendations for updates, trends and enhancements for social media platforms
  • Monitors assigned social media pages to keep leadership aware of emerging information
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of various tribal and public safety organization policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style writing
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures of journalism and media relations work

  • Ability to plan, organize and follow through on assignments
  • Must work under hard deadlines
  • Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management
  • Ability to write clearly, concisely, and accurately (e.g. Reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals demonstrating logic focus, critical thinking, and clarity with a diverse group of people, including employees, clients, general public, outside entities, administrative staff, and co-workers)

Skills:
Essential:
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator. XD and Cloud
Experience:

  • 5 years directly related experience

Education:
Essential:
  • High School, GED or Equivalent
  • Bachelors Degree in directly related field

Credentials:

  • Pass general background check
  • Standard Driver's License
